Jenny Shepard And you look inside the eyes. And you catch him here and there. But he's never really there. So you want him even more. Time to talk. Jen Shepard had dragged the Director of NCIS out of the bathroom (after he'd done his business) and into his former office: the elevator. So much privacy, more private then anywhere else in the building, except maybe locking down autopsy or the labs... Nevertheless, Jen had hit the button for the first floor and about half way there hit the off switch, sending the two into a faded blue light. She turned to face him and smiled sweetly. "Well here we are," she stated simply, placing her hands on his chest and bending up to give him a light peck on the lips, intending to talk rather than what they did in his 'official' office not too long ago: vigorous, stress-relieving exercise. She stared into his eyes, a ghost of a smile playing on her lips, but determined to talk about them.

L. Jethro Gibbs An angel's smile is what you sell You promise me heaven then put me through hell Chains of love got a hold on me When passion's a prison you can't break free
He looked at her, she had his full attention now. "Yes we are here now. Is there a reason you pulled me down here when I have an office?" he mused at her before pecking her back int he lips. perhaps the doors in his office were to thin upstairs. He would never really know but he could ask anyway. He took her by the hand they did need to talk. "Damn you Shannon, gotta make this that much harder on me' he thought. He looked to Jen tensing up but not letting fo of her hand.
He was feeling guilty and it was evident in his eyes. He knew they needed to straighten this out somehow. He had meant what he said though about Shannon earlier. He didnt want things difficult on Shannon and he didn't quite think either way was fair to either woman. He just had to figure out what he wanted to do. He waited on Jennifer to decide what it was that she wanted at this moment.
He felt his heart pounding in his head. He still wanted to be with her. Things we so confusing for him at the moment. He found himself relentless attracted and peck on the lips did nothing but leave him wanting more. He advanced on her again this time not wanting to go as far as they had before. He just wanted to let his true emotions do the talking so he didn't have to. He had one of those powerful yet almost whismical kisses, that could tell her almost everything she wanted to know.
He pulled away leaning back in the elevator giving her a moment to think and a moment to speak. He didn't want to try and decipher a mumbled talk with her. He ran his hand on her back and just set it there holding her. His thoughts still whirling about his options, He didn't want to hurt Shannon but he was in love with Jen. He needed to talk to someone but he needed an impartial party really.

Jenny Shepard But it's warm inside his eyes And it's soft inside his eyes And he burns you with his eyes And you're studied like the light. Jen smiled at the affection she received and ignored only briefly the emotions boiling under the surface of her secret lover. There was so much complication and confusion going on between the two adults. Either way, either decision was going to hurt at least two of the three of them. He was going to feel horrible after making his choice and depending on which woman he chose, they would hurt for the longest time and feel as if their heart was ripped in two. Jen knew what she wanted and her heart tried voicing that opinion, but her mind and conscious told her to bite her tongue and think rationally. Not only was it his decision, but it was immoral for them to be sneaking around and sleeping around when they felt like it, especially when Shannon was such a wonderful kind woman who had been through so much already. They needed to place all the cards on he table somehow and figure out the right course of action they needed to take. Jenny released a small "Mhmm" when Jethro showed how he was feeling in that one simple, tell-all kiss. So he was just as conflicted as she was and possible quite more confused. She stood there for a moment, gathering her thoughts and attempting to sort them out. Oh well here goes... "Jethro...when we first met I hated you because of the way you acted almost exactly the same as Mike Franks. And when we went to Paris, I saw a side of you that no one else has ever known, and I fell madly in love with you. Those feelings have never completely gone from me, despite your marital status, and being apart from you. I can't deny my passion and wanting of you. Jethro, I've always been in love with you," she started her spiel in confession style and strung together her next words carefully. "I want you to myself, but she is a lovely woman who has been through so much crap. Maybe it would help her to be away from you and all of the memories, but I can't tell you to leave her Jethro; it just doesn't feel right."She stared into his eyes, keeping her distance from his body to keep her thoughts coherent and able to function properly. Her hand rested on his arm that was holding her back, but that was all she allowed herself for the moment. Jen looked down at the floor only briefly and then back up to meet his eyes. She then asked the question of the day; a loaded question with much grey area. I suppose the real question here is......
Do you still love her?

He looked to the woman who now had him in a corner both physically and emotionally. He reached out and hit the side of the elevator a moment, but then he took a breathe and settled down, gathering his own thoughts for a moment before opening his mouth to speak.
"I was in love with Shannon from the day I met her, perhaps up until you walked back into this building today. Shannon is a good woman and I don't know what to do. I do not want to break her heart. However, you are the woman I am truly in love with. I can never get you out of my mind Jen. I know in the end it would be better to let Shannon go, so she has a chance to be happy. Don't get me wrong, I feel bad going behind her back but you can't help who you fall in love with..."
His hand rested on her other arm as he spoke to Jen in the elevator. He took a breathe looking to at the ground, though he wasn't sure if him and Jen could really be, they were so off and on through the years. But it felt right to be with her. He thought a moment of kelly. Kelly had caused so much tension between him and Shannon over the years, he couldn't look at Shannon without being reminded of his daughter. He mostly just tried avoiding the house when he could.
He looked to the woman with him in the elevator and sighed. His head was still so confused where his heart wasn't as confused, but it was enough to make any man really unsure of anything. He looked to the redhead with his blue orbits waiting for her to reply to what he had to say. His mind needed to know what was still on her mind now.

Jenny Shepard We should be lovers. We can't do that. We should be lovers, and that's a fact. Though nothing will keep us together. Still has anger issues...typical Gibbs. Jen allowed him his moment of contemplation and listened carefully when he finally decided to talk. She smiled slightly, eyes full of wonder and utter sadness over the situation. She placed both of her hands on his face and pulled it to look at her straight on. "I love you Jethro, and will support you in your decision no matter what it is. If you feel it is right and in the best interest of all parties, then..." Jen gulped, actually concerned about saying the words. "...divorce Shannon." Jen searched his eyes carefully, wondering what he was thinking about and how much this was hurting him, even though nothing (but the adultery, like twice) had occurred yet. "It's probably just as hard on her as it is you. You know, being around each other without...Kelly," she felt as if she had to say it and was glad when it was out in the open for him to hear. Not sure if it was the time or place in the conversation, Jenny bent up again and gave Jethro a short, reassuring kiss, showing him that she was just as worried as him.

He felt her hands on his face and reached up to touch them on the side of his face. He looked to her listening to her words. Divorcing her will break her heart, but in the end.. it is probably going to be easier on her. I can't look at her without Kelly clouding my thoughts. he stated just reinforcing what she had said but not speaking again. He kissed her back there was still guilt there but only his kiss could tell her that. He hated the feeling of betrayal. He always had and here he was caught in the middle of it.
He moved his arms and wrapped them around Jen."You are so damn persuasive" he stated a smirk crossing his face as he said it. He bit her lip as he kissed her, almost a little smack across the back of the head type of thing. He was chastising her for her persuasiveness but in a loving way. It was part of who he was. Very sharp and forward.
He looked into her eyes, searching still. He made a mental note to talk to Shannon whenever she decided to stop hiding at her mother's house. He sighed, when she hid at her mother's house there was little use in trying to deal with her at all. He just looked to Jen and tried to push those thoughts out. He had made up his mind. Jen was who he loved, and staying married to Shannon was just wrong.

Jenny Shepard I don't wanna share you with nothing else--I gotta have you to myself Oh--I can't help it--I'm so in love-- I just can't get you close enough, no Never had Jen been in a situation quite like Jethro and Shannon's, but her mind did flick to the times her father would refuse to look at her or interact with her. In that sense, Jen knew she reminded her father of her mother and that it pained him so much, despite mere separation of the two and not the death. She smiled faintly, remembering how she used to compare pictures of her mother to her reflections and set out to make sure she didn't look like her mother. All for her father's comfort of mind and so he would stop ignoring her. She smiled widely when he embraced her and snuggled as close as she could manage to his well-toned body. Her eyes fluttered closed and a content smile spread across her features, glad for the moment that she was once again with him and it had appeared that he made up his mind. She grinned at his next words and gave a little squeak at her lip being bit upon. Instead of taking the chastising in peace and dealing with it, Jen fought back. She wrapped her arms under his arms and around his back to thread into his hair, fairly tightly and during the kiss bit his lip back. She released his lip and sucked on it slightly, making sure she hadn't drawn blood and to alleviate any stinging. Jen pulled back and grinned at him, soon frowning at the creased lines on his forehead. "Is something...wrong?" Jenny asked uncertainly, cocking her to the side.

L. Jethro Gibbs If we gotta start sometime I say now Through the fog there is hope in the distance Two worlds collide in a beautiful display "Thoughts about Kelly is all" he said not wanting to go any further than that. It wasn't exactly the truth but it wasn't a lie either. He would probably still want to be with Shannon if Kelly was here. It was taking its toll on him. His body tensed a moment trying to rid the thought as it relaxed again as she reached her arms around him. He sighed rolling his head to the side.
He looked to her before flipping the elevator swtich again. They needed to not occupy the elevator much longer and he needed coffee. He hit the button for the bottom floor, she was going down now regardless if she wanted to or not. He smirked as the elevator landed on the floor for the parking deck. He grabbed his keys out of his pocket, the ones to his yellow mustang. He stuck them in the lock getting in. "You can come, or you can stay. I'm getting caffeine" he stated rather flatly.

Jen stepped out when the elevator opened its doors and glanced back at the device briefly. A chance to get away from her security detail...? She had already evaded them when she dragged Jethro into the elevator for their 'meeting', but if she went with him to get coffee then it would be her hide for losing them. Well...it was their job to keep an eye on her, not the other way around, so if they lost her then she wouldn't get in trouble at all! The woman grinned, hiking her bag up her shoulder more and trotted to meet Jethro at his car. Just two old partners catching up. That would be her explanation should they come across anyone who knew either of them. She smiled at him before sitting down into the car and buckling her seat belt, ready to get her third cup of coffee of the day.

When she had finally gotten in the car, he pulled out driving towards the coffee shop. It was a short ride. The fact she went silent on him didn' t seem to help matters much. He reeally didn't have anything to say on the way over anyhow. He felt himself lifting himself out of the car as they got there. He had gotten her door for her. He hadn't forgotten how to be a gentleman, he just chose not to most of the time. He smiled as he padded for the coffee.
All he had to do was walk in and they had his coffee ready almost. He gave a sideways glance to jen and they stuck it on his tab. He didn't even have to ask. He had been here entirely too much. He paid cash for the two coffee and handed her her coffee just the way she liked it. He couldn't help but crack a smart Alec smirk on his face. He finally spoke as he looked to Jen. "Those FBI agents are out of my building I hope" He was being dead serious in his question.

She smiled sweetly at Jethro when he opened the door for her; always the gentleman when it came to women, even the ones he wasn't romantically involved with or working with. She stepped out and followed him into the store, glad to smell the inviting and enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries. She held her drink in both hands, enjoying the warmth it gave off, but would wear off eventually, unlike her own personal body heater: Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Jen's eyes moved up to meet his when he spoke and she grinned back. "Well, that all depends, Director. If they've noticed that I'm gone...then they are frantically searching Headquarters and trying not to scream out their fear of losing me. If they are done with that they'll probably be searching the parking garage. But it doesn't matter either way," she explained, shrugging while she did so. Jen sipped at her somewhat sweet coffee as she observed her lover. ((Sorry it's kinda short-ish. I didn't know what else to write...))

He listned to her and chuckled. "They can't have you, they can see you everyday. I see you on a blurry screen that files up my entire upstairs room" he mused at her as he sipped on his coffee. He didn't understand how anyone would put anything in their coffee. The idea to him was just plain repulsive. He made a face as she drank her coffee.
He really could be a clown if he wanted to be, its just who got to see this side of him was actually a very select few people. He peered at her over his coffee cup. His thoughts still whirling through his head. Could he really divorce Shannon? Those words still haunted him as they had from the moment they had come out. He was lost in thought a moment, and it was noticable as he just sort of tried to make his mind reboot.

I can still see your love for me in your eyes. She grinned at him while she spoke in a pleased tone. "Aw, that's almost sweet, Director. Creepy, but sweet." She watched him, content with spending some alone time with him, no one interfering, few boundaries, and most importantly no FBI gorillas. Her grin widened at the face Jethro made when she drank her coffee. He still drank that same, old, disgusting swill, didn't he? Jen's eyes spotted and recognized something in his: fear. Instantly, she became worried. "Are you sure you can do this, Jethro?" she asked in hushed tones, so no one would hear her call him by his first name. Okay, well technically it was his middle name, but who cares, right? She reached across the table and rested her hand lightly on his to grab his attention, noting that his mind was elsewhere.

He smiled as she spoke about him being creepy. "Creepy is not usually a word someone has ever used to describe me" he mused in her direction. He felt a hand touch him as she spoke next and her words almost seemed to make him melt.
"In the end, I can.. but its going to be the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. She's a wonderful woman Jen, I just don't think its fair to her. I don't love her like I should and she deserves to be happy in the end. I still care about her, she's never ever given me a reason hurt her like I am going to. But I know that staying with her isn't fair to her. I feel like a demon." he explained to her not wanting to look her in the eyes. He hated looking people in eyes when he was hurting.
He didn't know whether Jen was going to flip on him for being conflicted or understanding or if she was just going to blow it off. He took his hand out of hers a moment before looking up. "I Love You Jen" he stated finally putting the emphasis on the word you. He bit his lip. This was probably the second worse feeling in the world it came right under having to confront his wife. He moved his hand to pick up his coffee and sip on it. It was the only thing in his life that seemed to be stable.
Then he thought about his coffee a moment, thinking that perhaps it was better to be a cup of coffee, people would love you no matter what, if they learned to like you in the first place. You were good hot or cold, sweet or bitter. He rolled his cup in his hands as he thought about the cop of coffee. It was a good escape from his mind.

I can still see your love for me in your eyes. Jen smiled at Jethro, knowing good and well that he could be creepy at times; people simply chose not to relate this feeling on to him, whether it be out of fear, respect...or fear. She listened, doing her best to stay neutral and imagine herself in his position to feel what he was feeling at the moment. It was not a pleasant feeling and she nodded at him when he paused to take a breath and when he finished. Jen had met Shannon a number of times, mostly before Paris and their affair, and she had found Shannon to be all of the things Jethro said and more. They had been friends, of a sort, but when Jenny's career started to escalate in Europe, when she did return to the States, she took every measure imaginable to avoid Jethro and Shannon. She is a wonderful woman, but Jen couldn't help but love the man sitting across from her. "You're not a demon, Jethro," she told him, standing up slightly and leaning across the table to lay a soft, quick kiss to his cheek in reassurance. She sat back down, running a swift scan of the room with her eyes and internally sighed at no noticeable witnesses or suspicious people. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he stared off into no where with his coffee. 'What in the world could he be thinking about...?' she thought to herself, intrigued by his silent staring. Despite her intense curiosity, Jen stayed quiet, allowing Jethro his moment of peace and probably escape from what they were talking about and what was to come.
