'CAPTAIN' JACK HARKNESScause this has been building since i have been breathing He let his mind jump back to focus on the conversation, closing his laptop so the screen didn't draw him back in. He smiled, glad she'd called, and nodding, even though she couldn't exactly see him.
I know; I left it there on purpose.
He replied, flipping his feet up on hte couch and leaning back, trying to get himself to relax and not focus on Gray. Some obsessions weren't healthy at all, and this was probably one of them. Of course, that she asked what was wrong didn't quite help him push it aside. He did, however, try to pass it off as nothing particularly important.
Oh, just looking at something Ive been trying to figure out for years, not getting anywhere.

Shannon smiled. "Figured that..." God she felt stupid. She frowned, sensing something more. "Ah... Sounds absurdly difficult if you haven't figured it out yet." She said softly. Like how to ignore something? She frowned slightly as she started her car.

'CAPTAIN' JACK HARKNESScause this has been building since i have been breathing Yeah... I suppose. It's just an old problem, nothing new to add to it. But I'm far too stubborn to just give up.
He replied, adding a grin that carried into his voice. She'd know, even though they'd just met, that he was stubborn. After all, he'd left his number behind. Not just anyone would do that.
Anyway, you call for any particular reason, or did you just need to hear my voice again?

Shannon listened hearing the grin. Obviously he was stubborn. She also grinned. "I wanted to say I was sorry... I just felt bad about the way i reacted... I haven't exactly been out much lately." There let him decide what he wanted to do with that one.

'CAPTAIN' JACK HARKNESScause this has been building since i have been breathing Nothing to be sorry for. Probably my fault. Many things are.
He replied with a soft chuckle. He took very little personally, and her getting nervous wasn't nearly enough to get him to worry about much at all. He took a glance around. His place seemed clean enough.
However, let me make it up to you? Stop by the Kennedy Warren Apartment Building, apartment 2103.

Shannon was feeling adventurous… and nodded. ”Sure… Be there soon.” She said as she drove out of the parking lot and arted off towards his apartment building. She drove up and got out, looking around. She went towards the building and smiled at the respetionist behind the counter. The lady eyed Shannon as she walked off towards Jack’s room. She nocked and waited.

'CAPTAIN' JACK HARKNESScause this has been building since i have been breathing There hadn't exactly been much planning time, so he didn't really have much in store for her. He had, however, managed to scrounge up a box of chocolates he'd gotten on sale after Easter this year and never opened. That and the half-eaten container of vanilla ice cream in the freezer would have to do. He'd put his laptop off to the side, search program still running for any new information of Gray. He'd look at it later.
When someone knocked, he instantly assumed it was Shannon, seeing as no one really visited him. He was still fairly new in town, and, although he was certainly social enough to have friends in the building already, he wasn't around enough to actually have made this a reality yet. He unlocked the door and swung it wide open for her, trade-mark charismatic smile slipping onto his face, his brother forgotten for now.
Come on in.
He waited until she had before closing the door behind her, locking it again out of a long-time habit from when he'd lived in a far worse neighborhood. This one was rather... posh, really. Hell, it had come decorated. But, he knew he wouldn't have had time to get more than a table, a chair and a bed if he'd been set to furnish his own place until months after he'd moved in. So, it had worked. And, he had to admit, he loved the terrace. He spent half his time here out on it. He slipped over to the table and pulled the small box of chocolates off it, handing them over.
And no, I didn't buy them on my way home assuming you'd call. I've just never touched them.
He grinned, having felt the need to point out this had been a spur of the moment thing. Which, really, wasn't to be unexpected when it came to dealing with Jack. He thought things through sometimes, but, more often than not, he acted then realized how stupid he'd been when he'd done so.

Shannon smiled, if a little cautiously. She walked in and looked around, liking the apartment. Larger then her own… but then again she didn’t NEED much. She took the choclate, and raised an eyebrow until he spoke. ”Ah… Is it the new thing to give a girl choclates when you startle her?” she asked with a slight smile.

'CAPTAIN' JACK HARKNESScause this has been building since i have been breathing Only thing I had lying around. Unless you'd prefer a bowl of ice cream?
He queried with a grin, moving into the kitchen where he hopped up onto a stool at the counter, and motioned with his thumb toward the freezer. He pulled out the second stool for her, skillfully keeping his balance on his own. She was, of course, welcome to stay standing or sit elsewhere, but he figured he'd open up the option of sitting next to him at the counter.
He wasn't pushing anything. He'd learned his lesson. A few smart remarks were bound to come, but he'd let her relax first. No need to get her all bundled up within some sort of shell like he had earlier by accident.
Supposedly, those are really good, though. At least, that's what I've heard.

Shannon, nodded, understanding a little better. She felt a bit out of her depth... but she'd promised her mother she wouldn't bundle herself up and she wasn't! She would Not Bundle herself up into a little ball. Like she had been for years. Not this time. She went to the stool and sat down, and opened up the box. She ate one. "They are wonderful. Who told you they were good?" she asked smiling slightly.

'CAPTAIN' JACK HARKNESScause this has been building since i have been breathing He grinned, glad she liked them. He'd been worried that it might well have been a trick, he wouldn't put it past the person who'd told him.
Dana. She was my boss before I got transferred here to run my own team. She was worse than most of us when it came to pulling pranks; I don't know how she got any work done, but she did.
He mused, reminiscing for a moment. Those were good times, really, though half the time he was actually the one leading the team because she'd been unavailable. He guessed she must have been really, really good at her job, seeing as they hadn't fired her. Either that or they had ridiculous funding and just turned a blind eye. The second scenario was doubtful.

Shannon's smile answerd his grin. She frowned. "Where do you work?" she asked curious... It sounded like NCIS... Pranks... Her mind poped to tony and abby. She stopped that train of thought before it went any farther. She wondered if they were ok... Not that she would know... but still.

'CAPTAIN' JACK HARKNESScause this has been building since i have been breathing NCIS. Why?
Oh, he'd noticed her frown. Obviously there would be a reason for it, and it, no doubt, had something to do with where he worked. This, naturally, spiked his curiosity. He placed his elbow on the counter, chin on the heel of his hand, leaning forward slightly, watching her carefully. He wasn't interrogating her, not at all, but that didn't mean he didn't instinctively stare at her, as if impatient for an answer, yet with all the time in the world to wait.

Shannon felt uncomfortable under his stair... and his words caused her to freeze for a second. "Er... I have friends there. Abby, Tony... Ziva... Tim, Ducky, Kate" She managed to keep her mouth shut about Gibbs, but just bairly. Hell she used to be married to him... She shouldn't be almost ashamed to say their names.

'CAPTAIN' JACK HARKNESScause this has been building since i have been breathing He noticed how she froze, how she seemed to purposely cut someone out. He frowned thoughtfully for a moment, then remembered the gossip at the office. Supposedly, the director had gotten divorced... And with how she was acting, how she knew the primary team... He was pretty sure he knew exactly who she was, now. But he wasn't going to say a word. Instead, he smiled that reassuring smile, and decided to apologize again. Unlike most of the agents, he didn't follow the 'never say you're sorry' rule. This time was for making her nervous, something that he seemed particularly good at.
Sorry. Habit.
He stopped staring, no longer feeling the need to get an answer from her, though he didn't really switch his position. He was relaxed the way he was, and it wasn't like he was particularly threatening. It was the stare that got most people, so he assumed that had been what got her as well.
Anyway, you're the guest. What do you want to talk about?
