L. Jethro Gibbs I Know Karmas Comin To Pay Me Back Im With The Sweetest Thang Thats On The Map I Broke Her Heart In 30 Seconds Flat
Jethro slammed down the door knocker onto the decorated door. He had left in them middle of the night after handing Shannon his wedding ring. He wasn't running, he just needed to think, not that Jenny would help him think. It was the only place he could think to go though perhaps she would kill him for showing up so late.
He waited patiently as he listened for footsteps for anything. He hadn't been able to sleep and he wouldn't be able to tonight probably, coffee less even he would be too awake to get any rest. He had his phone out ready to call Jen if she didn't answer.

Jenny Shepard I don't wanna share you with nothing else--I gotta have you to myself Oh--I can't help it--I'm so in love-- I just can't get you close enough, no All the lights in her father's former Brownstone were turned off, save a few dim lights in the kitchen and bathrooms respectively. The woman slept in her four poster bed, window slightly ajar, despite the constant threats on her life, curtains billowing softly in the moon's glow. A serene scene made even better at the figure huddled under the covers. She lay on her side, one arm under her cheek and the other resting a few inches from the pillow, her beautiful entrancing red hair splayed across the mattress like a soft blanket. Her breaths were even and low, her eyes unmoving behind their lids, no dreams to be had at the moment. Her room was simple yet elegant, no unnecessary ornamentation or notable furnishings. "Brrmmm......Brrmmmm" A groan emitted from the woman as the seemingly strange noise continued to sound. She tried ignoring it, changing positions and resting a hand over her exposed ear. ".....Brrmmm.....brrmmm.......thunk!" She sat up and rubbed at her eyes, cussing silently. She tried to gather her bearings and figure out where she was presently. Her eyes soon adjusted to the light and her body leaned over the side of the bed and a hand reached out to roam for the object in trouble for interrupting her sleep. Finding it was a small victory as she sat back up and looked at it, her eyes dilating when the LCD light turned on. She had requested a techie to do something with connecting knocking on her front door to her Blackberry cellphone. They had managed it and she had been intrigued and pleased. She grumbled something and slid out of her bed and slunk off towards the stairs downstairs, only able to think of one person who would bother her this late. The President......just kidding. She stopped in front of the door and yawned before opening it up, not even bothering to spy through the peep hole. She rubbed her eyes once again, the streetlights not helping her 'in the darkness' eyes. "Jethro?" she mumbled, more of a question than a statement, due to her inability to comprehend presently. Jenny was dressed very casually, even for her. She was clad in loose short shorts, and a size too big tee-shirt that rested a little below her shoulder, revealing much flesh, but she had her reasons when she changed that evening. It had been quite hot in her house when she came home, so she decided to 'what the hell' it and open her window and dress as such.

L. Jethro Gibbs I Know Karmas Comin To Pay Me Back Im With The Sweetest Thang Thats On The Map I Broke Her Heart In 30 Seconds Flat "Were you expecting an escapead lion instead?" he roused as she spoke his name in a question state. He raised his brow in her direction as she answered the door. He looked back at the ground. His eyes were clouded over, he had done that on purpose. He was trying to hide his feelings right now. Not let them show emotion. He looked up a moment but only to see the huge house in front of him. His eyes finally met with hers as he had finally managed to clout all his feelings in them.
He really didn't have much place else to go, he could have stayed home and been in the basement all night, but even that hadn't started to even begin to make him tired. He felt like he had bitten off more than he could chew with this whole mess that he let himself get into but he wasn't about to admit it. He was just there because he couldn't sleep and she was the only thing on his mind besides Shannon. 'Damn you Jen screwing with my life' he thought to himsefl but didn't speak it outloud. He would probably eventually let that slip from his mouth but for now it was tucked away in his brain.
At the moment he didn't say why he was there. He left his comment to the diverted "humorous" one he had made a few moments ago as he stood in the porchlight. He did make another comment totally unrelated. "It seems I disturbed your slumber" he dared to speak. OF course he had it was the middle of the night.

Jenny Shepard Love makes us act like we are fools. Throw our lives away. For one, happy day. "I know of no close zoos, Jethro," she replied, obviously unamused and slowly waking up. She thought briefly that his comment would have been more funny, at least to her, if she had one of her handguns in her hand when she opened the door. She moved aside to let him in, wondering where her security detail was, unless he had already gone through them to get to the door, which should have been the case. She shook her hand, wavy red tresses flowing over her shoulders afterward. Jen closed the door and locked it up, while moving to her study. Once there, she turned on one of the dimmer desk lights, figuring the man would need at least a little help getting to her. She sat down in one of the big chairs and crossed her legs waiting for him to join her. Jen was growing increasingly more and more agitated at the lack of explanation as to his late night visit. She yawned and wrapped her arms around her body, getting used to the different temperature of downstairs as compared to her second story bedroom. It's not that she was cold or anything, it was more like she wanted to still be curled up in her bedsheets sleeping away like a small child. The woman elected to ignore his next comment, realization dawning that he was in a silent mood, where he said only as much as needed. A sigh escaped into the silence. Jen continued to wait, her eyes getting droopier by the lack of motion of anything or anyone. Finally she stood up and made to leave the study. "Well if that's all, I'm headed back to bed. Make yourself at home. I trust you still know where the pillow and blankets are?" Jenny said, yawning again and walked towards the door, letting the desk lamp burn still.

He spoke as she turned around. "I broke her heart, but I can't go back now" he stated firmly as he sat himself on the couch rolling over to face the backside of it. His back turned to the redhead. He closed his eyes a moment, it was about the only way he was going to be able to deal tonight. Pillow and blankets weren't on his mind. He had seen Shannon leave for her mom's house and knew she wouldn't be back. It hurt him more than he could even dream it would.
She hadn't done anything wrong and now Gibbs seemed almost bitter at Jen as he spoke. "You better damn well be happy Jen, I threw my life away, for you" he hissed in her direction, not caring if she had a sharp retort for him or not. He was slightly agitated that he had allowed the woman to affect him like this.
He watched her out of the corner of his eye with a soft sigh. Was he doubting his actions? In the end he didn't know if he was or not. He tried to put it out of his head, but it was still there burning the night away in his head. He was just as restless here as he had been at home. At least there was his boat at home.

Jenny Shepard But it's warm inside his eyes And it's soft inside his eyes And he burns you with his eyes And you're studied like the light. Jen was silent when he told her what he'd done and she wouldn't have expected anything less; no denying what they felt and no other solution to the problem. Jethro had made the decision and that was that. True she coerced him into falling in love with her, but what was so wrong about love? You can't help who you fall in love with right? It had been a decent eight years before he came back into Jen's life and she knew immediately when she saw him in MTAC that she was still in love with him. It was complicated and upsetting, but what was done was done; no turning back and no re-dos. She didn't respond quickly as he lashed out at her, allowing it to sink in with both of them and contemplate her words and comment, wondering if she should just let him vent and get angry back at him. Politics was her forte, or at least it had to be. Well it had to be Jethro's as well, but he was still leaning and Jen decided on a softer approach. She walked over to him and sat on the arm of the chair carefully and looked at him. "A life yes. One you had with Shannon," she started, choosing not to simply say 'her', but address her respectfully. "We will start a new life together. At least, I hope we will," her voice trailed off as she observed his eyes and body language. His eyes were filled with despair and sorrow, his body tensed up and pulled into himself as if he was trying to leave the world, at least mentally. She sighed and found one of his hands with hers, regretting what she was about to say. "If you're having that much of a problem, then go back to her, Jethro." Jenny said this before kissing his cheek in a goodnight kind of gesture and stood up. She moved to leave the study once again. Leaving him to his thoughts, and perhaps forcing him to come and stop her from exiting after the way she had said what she did.

He listened to her speak about starting their life together. He met her eyes for the moment. "Thats the plan Jen" he said realizing why he had thrown his marriage away in the first place. It was what they had both wanted right? It didn't take too long to sink in. He wasn't going to fall for that. He knew his feeling for this woman couldn't be helped. He caught up to her passing her in the study to block her way back to her bedroom. "No, I want you." he stated almost as a blunt fact. He had made up his mind when he threw his ring away.
He cornered her again his eyes meeting her as he spoke just inches from her face. "I'm not making the same mistake twice. Jennifer" His words were very stern as if he had definitely made up his mind. He kissed her not letting her up from the wall he had cornered her in. "If you want sleep you have to go through me first" he mused smirking in her direction.
He pushed the thoughts of Shannon out of his mind. That was the past right? It wasn't so easily let go of and it would probably haunt him for a long while especially since he didn't Shannon. He tried to focus his thoughts to Jen, this gorgeous stubborn fire of a redhead. He ran a hand down her shoulder. "I'm not going anywhere" he stated firmly, almost daring her pass.

Jenny Shepard But it's warm inside his eyes And it's soft inside his eyes And he burns you with his eyes And you're studied like the light. She stared at him, humored he would try to challenge the Secretary of the Navy. Especially someone like her. It was known she had a temper, as most red heads do, but Jen was one to get especially pissed off at even the most minor of things. Recently her biggest peeve was being cornered against friggin' flat walls, all thanks to the man mere inches from her face. It was nice he intended to make an effort for their relationship to last, but all the woman could think of at the moment was having nowhere to go. Her eyebrows narrowed and fell to the tops of her eyes and she glared at the man, making no visible reaction to his words or actions. Her lips twitched up only slightly, one idea crossing her mind of saying 'Okay, fine. I'll just sleep her; standing up' and then attempting to do so. Instead she continued to stare him down, waiting for the right moment to pounce or say something snappy and bitchy. "Going through you isn't that difficult, Jethro," she said, neither a muscle in her body moving more than it absolutely had to to speak the words. Jen's left hand came up over his arm at her shoulder as if to caress his cheek and while his gaze was there, the rest of her body swiftly moved to her right and she spun around Jethro and fast walked into the foyer of the apartment. She glanced back only slightly and moved to ascend the stairs in avoidance of the man.

Jethro smirked, she as smart, he would give her that. However this wasn't about to end here. He grabbed a pillow from the couch and flipped it up at her catching her square in the back. He grinned from the bottom of the stairs. "Did you really think I was finished?" he said knowing exactly which buttons to push on her and when. Messing with a sleeping Jennifer was never the best idea. He didn't seem to care. This was taking his mind of things and it was good for him.
He chased her up the stairs, he pushed her down on the floor then stood up to let her up. "You really should watch that step Jen, its a doozy" he commented. He looked to her down on the floor. "How did you get there?" he stood with his hand on his hip. Determined to get her to talk he got close to her face again. "You can't escape, and secretly you think its funny" he added as he was again just inches from her face.
He moved his hand to her lips daring her to speak almost. He was taunting her and it was fun for him, probably not so much her as it was going on almost 3am. Luckily the next was saturday, so there wasn't anything important he knew of it. He didnt' go into the office on saturday's and he doubted she did either. He smirked almost evily as he offered a hand to help her up.

Jenny Shepard Love makes us act like we are fools. Throw our lives away. For one, happy day. Jen's mouth emitted a squeak as the soft object made contact, her body turning to gaze upon her childish attacker her ears hearing quick movement noises. As she did so, her body hit the floor hard, her bare legs shivering while they rested on the cold wood paneling. 'Heh. Watch that step? I was standing flat, genius,' she thought angrily, glaring at his smug face condescendingly. The vein in her forehead began to throb as he teased her; she was not appreciating his mocking and interruption of sleep. She grinned momentarily, not allowing her displeasure of him helping her up shine through Jen placed her hands on both of his shoulders and gave them a hard push, partially hoping he would tumble over backwards and down the stairs, delaying his pursuit. Of course she didn't him to get hurt either. She flipped to her knees and scrambled to get up and run down the hall. Her green eyes scanned through the darkness, scoping out a hiding place; anything to get away from Gibbs and to get some more shut eye. The woman slid into what appeared to be a closet and hid behind the clothes rack and some boxes on the floor. But it wasn't just a closet. It was a secret passageway that led to the attic stairs and stairs that led to the downstairs kitchen. She had discovered the passage in her youth with her imaginary friends and would explore the small attic and the stored away possessions of her father's that lived there. Jenny took a break behind the boxes against the wall to catch her breath and let her eyes adjust to the darker area. After, she made her way up the stairs to the attic and simply sat at one of the small, grated windows with her head relaxing on the wall and her eyes. 'Eat your heart out, Jethro, my love,' the too old to be playing in secret hallways woman thought while curling into herself, completely relaxed and at ease.

L. Jethro Gibbs Well in case you failed to notice In case you failed to see This is my heart bleeding before you This is me down on my knees
He had braced himself and didn't stumble backwards as she had pushed him. So it didn't take him long before he slipped in the door behind her stumbling into the stairs. He mumbled something to himself as he got up before heading up the stairs. He followed her up there but was a few moments behind. He had to check a few other closets in the room before he came in there.
"So now you muse to yourself in the dark. You forgot I can see. Come on lets get you some sleep"he said as he knew she needed sleep. He wrapped his arms around her. "I can't see this being comfortable for the entire night." he stated as he scooped her up in his arms. He grinned looking to her. It was one of those childish grins, same as he had earlier in the hallway. He carried her down the attic stairway and to her bedroom.
He laid her down on her bed and covered her up gently. He kissed her on the side of the face. "Night Jen" he whispered as he turned to go from the room turning to look at her with a smile on his face. He really did care for her, even if she challenged him every step of the way. It just felt right and that was that. He was going to head downstairs to the couch but he waited to see what she had to say first. If she didn't fall straight asleep.

Jenny Shepard And you look inside the eyes. And you catch him here and there. But he's never really there. So you want him even more. A groan emitted from her at him being able to find her so quickly. 'Damn...' She stayed still with her eyes closed, hoping he would leave her alone, praying he wouldn't decide to do something else childish. Like tickle her. She would probably kill him if he decided to do that. "Just reminiscing about my enemies in the dark," she said, only a mild smile playing on her lips, her mind still wondering about the loose ends of the whole La Grenouille and Jasper Shepard mystery, if you could even call it that. "Mmm," came from her as Jethro's arms wrapped around her slowly cooling body. Jen relaxed even more and leaned into his embrace. "Ah!" she yelped when he picked her up, her eyes widening and her body stiffened, shock evident throughout her body. "Watch your head," she told him, remembering the attic was quite a small, crowded place, especially for two grown adults. Jen smiled when he returned her to her cool sheets and kissed her cheek. Her eyes fluttered closed momentarily, but shot back open as his body moved away. She stared at him through the semi-light. "Don't go."

He turned his head as she told him not to go and he practically froze in the doorway. He decidedly came over and sat down next to her on the bed. He smirked down at her, he just leaned against the edge of the bed running a hand through her hair. "You need your sleep" he stated softly. He had been careful to watch his head earlier but he bumped it now on the bed, though said nothing of it as it made a loud thump. He just grinned it off, it really hadn't hurt at least it didn't right now.
He yawned, it was getting late and he needed his sleep too. He gently rolled over on top of her his body barely touching hers he gently decided instead of rolling over the rest of the way he forced his way to the place where she was in the bed, yes he was still being semi childish but he couldn't help but grin and kiss her to try and get out of it. He had almost that sadistic smirk he got when he did things like that. He pulled the blankets back up around her and made sure she was all tucked in again.

Jenny Shepard In your eyes. I can still see the look of the one who really loves me. The one that wouldn't put anything else in the world above me. I can still see your love for me in your eyes. The woman smiled sleepily back at him, glad to have her hair nice and long once again. It curled in just the way she loved and her hair was always so soft tot he touch. She even knew she caught the attention of others with the scent of her conditioner and that typically made her grin. She shrugged her shoulders at his comment about sleep. She was practically awake ever since letting him into her house and him chasing her around as if they were two schoolchildren on the playground. And tomorrow was Saturday after all. They could spend all day in bed for all Jen cared. A smirk spread across her face as he bumped his head. "Perhaps it was the headboard I should have given warning of," she said, a playful tone laced in her words. Jen grunted at the weight on her presently and the annoyance creeping back into her system. Was he always going to be this damn immature?! She groaned as she turned to face him and push him hard on his back in retaliation. Then she snuggled up to his chest, resting her head on his right pectoral muscle, right arm wrapped across his chest in a partial hug and left arm resting against his right side. She sighed, breathing in his mild, musky and wonderful scent. Content she intended to fall asleep.

L. Jethro Gibbs Well in case you failed to notice, In case you failed to see, This is my heart bleeding before you, This is me down on my knees
He looked down at the sleeping Jenny and then faded off to sleep beside her with her still in his arms.
...Next Morning... Gibbs peered around the room this early in the morning. His alarm clock in his head went off as it was enough sleep for him. Granted it was 7am but he wasn't used to more than a few hours of sleep at any one time. He just laid there thinking as the redhead slept in his arms. He wanted to get up but she was there and she was peaceful he didn't want to disturb her. He decided he had to get up. He wiggled from under her softly trying not to disturb her, supporting her head with his warm pillow he had been laying on.
He padded downstairs quietly and decided he was going to try and make pancakes. It more or less would probably get him gutted up one side and down the other for the mess it was going to make, but he at least owed that to her. He went to the store and came back to start making them. He was making a mess as the egg missed the bowl completely. He fished the eggshell out successfully, so at least it would be crunchy. When he finally had mixed the batter it was all lumpy.
He poured it into the pan, luckily for him he wasn't bad as he didn't burn it. He came up with a tray with some orange juice and some pancakes and set it on the table next to Jen's bed as he kissed the side of her face. "Good morning" he whispered in her ear softly as he nudged her awake.
