Jenny Shepard Love makes us act like we are fools. Throw our lives away. For one, happy day. Official Pentagon Identification Card in hand, feet clad in typical black colored high heels clacking along the tile flooring, head held high, and jaw set straight, ready to deal with business. The Secretary of the Navy, Jennifer Shepard made her way along the familiar paths and hallways of the official base building of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Her eyes darted back and forth to make sure she didn't walk into some probationary agent minding his own business. She was on the prowl and no one was going to get in her way. And she means, no one. She knew who was following her, but she had reluctantly gotten used to the damn protection detail of at least two Pentagon FBI agents wherever she went. Where was Gibbs? This was a disaster and she had to clean it up; just like every other mess she's made in her forty-five years. It was her responsibility. She stopped briefly in the Alpha Squad's bullpen and whipped out her Blackberry phone, just in case Gibbs wasn't upstairs. She hung on to it as she moved to ascend the stairs to the next floor of the building. Where MTAC and the Director's Office was. She noticed the agents were observing her as if she were crazy, wondering who she was, where she was going, and probably why she had two monkey suits trailing behind. 'Just so long as they're not ON my six...' she thought, reminded of the few occasions of hearing Agent Tony DiNozzo say that exact phrase to his boss. She was in the Director's Assistant's office catching her breath for only a few minutes. Cynthia had sat there months ago, but had taken the jump to the Pentagon with her. At least one thing stayed the same... She stood in front of the metallic door and slipped her phone back into her purse, having heard heavy breathing on the other side. Her hand rose to the door and two solid knocks were heard. "Sit Rep, Jethro!" she called through the door.

"Its a hell of a sit rep Jen" he said as he opened the door. He went back down to his desk and looked to her. It was odd seeing her from this side of the desk, although he still had to answer to her. It just felt strange.
"As I told you, Jeanne Benoit was found stabbed. It appears she gunned down her boyfriend Navy Lt. Jonathan Hunter. Her daughter addy heard the shots and came in. Tony said they were fighting over addy's parentage or something like that. She's 5.. you do the math. Tony's taking care of the girl while her mother is in the hospital, its what Jeanne wanted. Can you Imagine. DiNozzo babysitting" he said filling her in as much as he knew. He had half a mind to go downstairs and take over the investigation but Tony seemed to be doing just fine on his own.
He flipped over a piece of paper on his desk and handed it to her. It was the case file information. "Thats the entire file as of now. Its a decently fresh case, and our dead navy officer is wrapped up in it nice and tight" he said as he finished explaining. He didn't go into those details because Ducky's autopsy report was sitting on top of the file.

Jenny Shepard Love makes us act like we are fools. Throw our lives away. For one, happy day. She walked into the room, holding her hand up to stop the FBI agents from entering, who were quite resistant to the idea. Regrettable, they stood outside of the office on either side of the door, ready to pounce if anything were to happen to the Sec Nav. Jenny sighed as she closed the door, glad to have some 'alone' time with Gibbs and to be away from those damn monkeys. She moved to stand in front of his desk, her arms crossed under her breasts and her face void of any emotion other than mild anger. She listened to the 'status report' if she even felt like calling it that. As he said, it was not very different than when they had talked over MTAC. Her hand brushed against his when she reached for the file, the briefest of Paris memories flashing in her mind. 'No, don't even go there, Jen. He's still married! And we're in the middle of this screwed up investigation with La Grenouille's daughter,' She thought, while regaining composure and ignoring her thoughts and feelings. Her eyes scanned the report, picking out key words and certain details from Doctor Mallard's autopsy. "Well, what do you think, Director Gibbs? What's your plan of action?" she asked, looking up from the papers and into his beautiful cerulean eyes. The same eyes as when....No. She stared at him and waited, attempting to be patient.

He looked to Jen and sighed trying to push Paris out of his mind, but he never could not when looking at her. He spoke sharply at Jen as she questioned him. "Tony has it under control for now. I will step in if I need to, just like I always have." His words were firm and he seemed to feel he had it under control whether he did or not. He looked to her and sighed. He hadn't meant to let his next words slip but they did. "I'm going to make Tony take a paternity test, though he doesn't know it yet"
His words were flat, he needed to know if Addy was Tony's and if he should be involved in this case any father. He looked to Jen expecting her to say something along the lines of "thats a dumb idea Jethro" as she did sometimes when even he thought he was out of line.

Jenny Shepard Love makes us act like we are fools. Throw our lives away. For one, happy day. She had found something to joke about, to smile about if only briefly. A grin slowly spread across her face as she spoke to the man, "Before, you were the Alpha Squad's Babysitter, but the difference is now, you are everybody's Mommy." Jen couldn't help but be reminded of the hardships that came with such an important government position. Of course, not much has change for her now. More paperwork, yes, but less people to boss around... She thought long and hard on his next words, deciphering it as completely as possible. Her eyes were glued to the floor during that time, but now she raised her head to look at Gibbs again. "Sounds like a good idea. Where is DiNozzo and the girl now?" Jenny asked, wanting to talk to both of them, but knew she had to be careful about what exactly she said in front of Jeanne's daughter to Tony. She felt like yelling at him about breaking every single one of her rules about his mission and then beating herself up about letting him off the hook. She had allowed him to go on the mission, allowed him to get involved, to have sex with her, to not warn him about wearing a condom if that was indeed the case at hand. She groaned lightly, mind occupied with her thoughts of denial and regret.

He looked to Jennifer as she spoke. He was paying attention though it didn't seem that way. He was more interested in straightening things on his desk at the moment. "I'm not the maternal type." he said flatly. That was a kind of obvious thing to say but he said things like that occasionally especially when he wanted the obvious known. Bad habits die hard. He continued listening. "Last time I checked, McGee and Addy were playing barbies. DiNozzo is at the hospital with Jeanne, questioning her." For someone that wasn't involved in the case he knew what everyone was doing.
He let out a sigh, he didn't know if DiNozzo had gone alone to Visit Jeanne or if he had taken another agent with him. He had an inkling that DiNozzo went alone, thinking more with his heart than his head. He looked onto the video cameras that Vance had installed. He could learn everything he needed to know about any case they were discussing, its probably how he was so well informed. He looked back to Jennifer flipping the screen around so she could see. McGee was there and so was Addy. "Looks like he went alone" he stated shrugging. It didn't matter to him how many agents went. He just knew the team needed answers.

Jenny Shepard Love makes us act like we are fools. Throw our lives away. For one, happy day. Jen's eyebrows furrowed at Gibbs' obvious lack of attention to her and it pissed her off. He was either bored with her already, hiding something, or perhaps embarrassed. Her mouth set into a straight line as she listened to him talk. That nice deep, straight to the point voice of his. Hmm...too bad, she would have loved to talk to DiNozzo. Hold off on seeing or God forbid talking to Miss. Benoit. The last time they had talked, or rather she had interrogated the younger woman, Jen had totally discredited Jeanne, brought raw emotions to the surface that hadn't been dealt with quite yet, and proved Tony's innocence in the eyes of the FBI. The death of the arms dealer written as a suicide and no further investigation of anyone had taken place since. Her hands turned into fists and she rested them on her hips, displaying to the Director that she was currently unhappy. When he showed her the screens, her green orbs widened exponentially and her eyebrows raised at Gibbs. "Now, exactly when did these get installed?" she questioned, her trademark half grin playing on her features. She moved around the desk, unwarranted and turned the screen around with her. She placed her hand on the swivel chair's left arm and leaned slightly to stare at the screen. McGee looked like he was having fun; the girl appeared to slowly be getting more and more bored with the game, her mind probably wondering what else she could do instead. Jenny's face morphed into that of a smiling, wishful woman's. Unknowingly, she let out a deep, disappointed sigh.

"Vance had them installed" he stated simply as he looked to her. He finally had to give into her persistent disappointment. "What's bugging you Jen?" he asked flatly, it was evident he wasn't going to take some stupid lame excuse for an answer on this one. He wanted the truth. He turned his attention on her for a moment. "You have more on your mind than this case, so don't try blaming it on something else." he stated placing his pens in his desk then looking back up to what she was doing.
His mind was going ten million miles in the direction of the case, he would probably never stop getting himself involved in cases, even as director. Its why he had always been a team leader. He pierced his eyes in her direction to better make out the look in her eyes. "Dammit Jen' he thought to himself as he looked for her eyes to tell him something.

Jenny Shepard Love makes us act like we are fools. Throw our lives away. For one, happy day. Of course it was Vance... 'Hmph. Well NOW he pays attention' she thought angrily as her eyes bore daggers into his face, eventually his eyes when he looked up at her, finally done ignoring her and 'cleaning' his damn desk. This case was not going down well for the Secretary of the Navy. So much crap going on at one time. She could not wait for this all to be over. Jen mentally groaned at how much stress she was experiencing and how a vigorous exercise of any kind would do her a world of good. Her eyes flicked back and forth between Gibbs' and her mouth set in a frown. 'Damn...'She moved her body to face him better and spoke, "Everything is just peachy. We've got a Marine down, a hopefully fatally wounded young woman who tried to get one of your best agents thrown in prison AGAIN, a grown agent playing with dollies with a girl, me thrown into this mess, piling more stress onto my shoulders, and oh yeah a little girl who might be the illegitimate daughter of the East Coast's infamous playboy!!" Her chest heaved with the lack of oxygen from the long sentence and the anger rising in her body and mind. She glared at Gibbs, even though it was not his fault and intended on staying mad for a while. But being around Gibbs, in the pit of her being knew it wouldn't last long. Being mad was a great way to vent and lay everything out on the table for the world to see. All Jen could hope for was that the door wasn't so paper thin that the two bodyguards outside would hear and come in. She spun on her heel and moved to plop down on the couch, a huge sigh escaping her pink painted lips. Jenny crossed her arms and legs, staring at the metallic door at the other side of the room, refusing to look at her former lover. I'm getting old, Jethro," she said, her voice barely above a whisper and displaying rare unadulterated emotions boiling beneath the facade of her rage.

L. Jethro Gibbs When Push comes to shove. You taste what you're made of. You might bend til you break.
You want to keep trying to tear down my agents Jennifer, go talk to him if you care that much what happens between the two of them. I'm not stopping you." he scoffed at her comment about hoping that Jeanne was fatally wounded. "You know how things work around here. I don't care if I answer to you, Drop the attitude, I am not in the mood to deal with it, I still care about that team and You better damn well know what" he added.
The man was talking a mile a minute, when she made her last comment about getting old he raised a brow in her direction. ]"You and everyone else in the world, Jen. Age isn't an excuse for trying to seek attention. I know what you want Jen, I can read between the lines. But if you seriously don't drop the attitude, the most attention you are going to get for me, is a boot out the door. I don't care whether I still answer to you or not. I still have an agency to run and I am sick of hearing your damn excuses and harping on my agents. They know what they are doing Madam Secretary, they had the right people training them"
He had no idea why his actions were so defensive. He found himself fighting with her when he needed an outlet. He never fund with Shannon, everything was always sure, yeah whatever you say Jethro. Sometimes it more or less got on his nerves, but then other times, Jennifer was racking his nerves but he still found himself wanting to toss her in the nearest closet and join her there. But that wasn't on his mind at the moment. He was off and on with her all the time and right now evidently they were back on the rocks, but something about that in itself was intriguing.
He narrowed his eyes forcing his visages to look in her direction. He stood up coming over to her realizing he thought he had everything figured out. He squated down next to her though he was probably going to get himself slapped her managed to put a a hand on her back before kissing her more or less just to get her to shut up. He realized he was opening another entire box of worms. Now he had to work on this case, with her in the vicinity, under her nose, dealing with DiNozzo and worrying about Shannon. The man had to be crazy.
He pulled away from the kiss and stood back up having no idea what she was about to do or say, either she was going to shut up about it, or she was going to keep babbling and complaining and smack him firm in the face. Though there were other possibilities those were the two most blatently obvious to the man. Not to mention the confusion had probably just stirred up. He leaned against his wall looking to her as she sat in the chair. He raised a brow trying to figure out what she was on about.

Jenny Shepard We should be lovers. We can't do that. We should be lovers, and that's a fact. Though nothing will keep us together. 'Talk about being overprotective', she thought, not caring what he thought about her ranting and raving at the moment. A vein in her head started throbbing and continued to as the Director continued to talk and give his own little rant of his own. She turned her head to glare at him. "DON'T call me Madam," she said, threateningly, memories of that name from when she was 'Madam Director' for the first few months of her promotion. He just had to call her that when she had just uttered her annoyance and fear of being old. Just to tick her off more. Her gaze shifted back to the wall across from her. She kept her lips tightly sealed and her jaw set, thoughts still racing in anger. Jenny didn't even noticed when the man straightened his legs and approached her. Her eyes widened and her mouth parted slightly at the feel of Gibbs' lips upon her's. Completely unexpected, and shocking the woman to her soul. Her world slowed down to a snail's pace and she didn't want it to end any time soon. Her eyes closed and she leaned slightly into the kiss, keeping her hands grounded to her lap, not sure why he had just kissed her. When he pulled away, her surroundings seemed to spin momentarily and she felt a little fuzzy headed. Why'd it have to end so soon? She was disappointed again, but for an entirely different reason, and her body didn't show it. She was more happy and content than upset. Jenny's eyes followed the man as he moved away from her seat on the chair and took to leaning against the wall. She thought about her options for a few minutes and realized that he probably kissed her just to shut her up. Nevertheless, she relented to her emotions and stood up to stand in front of Gibbs. "Don't tempt me, Jethro," she whispered huskily. She placed both of her hands behind his head and pulled him to meet her, kissing him once again.

Upon the second kiss the man realized just how much emotion she had and what he had been missing. Shannon wasn't this pushy with him, but he enjoyed this pushiness. It was more him. He found himself standing up to meet her kiss and returning it with as much passion as he had in Paris. "Its been entirely too long Jen" he managed as he broke their kiss only to corner her up against the wall.
After taking a breathe he was back at it again kissing her. He missed the feeling she gave him. He enjoyed riling her up if just to get her emotions going. He knew how to push all of her buttons and thats probably what made them so good together in the first place. His mind had totally forgotten about Shannon at this moment. Everything was focused on Jen as he became a bit forceful in his kisses, not quite as soft.
Why did women have to be so hard to understand. He felt almost stuck in his relationship with his wife and this gave him a chance to release everything. He let his hand reach up to the side of her face. His eyes searching her as she seemed to calm down. 'That worked, probably to well' he thought to himself as he pushed her long red hair back. He wrapped an arm around her waist pulling her closer to him, not wanting to let go. Nothing else in the world mattered now. Damn, why did they have to be so compatible.

Jenny Shepard We should be lovers. We can't do that. We should be lovers, and that's a fact. Though nothing will keep us together. To say the least, Jen was shocked when Jethro responded to her kiss, but wasn't about to start complaining, especially since it was she who started their more passionate kiss. Behind her closed eyes, flashed of a lifetime ago; memories of endless stakeouts in Paris, doing what they used to do oh so well. He was hers again, if only for a few fleeting moments in the shadows. Her eyes widened when she felt her back being pressed against the wall, a grin playing lightly at her lips. 'Damn straight it's been too long,' she thought. A sigh was barely able to escape her lips before another kiss was initiated and Jen felt the need to roll her head back against the wall to allow him better access to not only her lips, but her neck, if he so wished. Her lips parted again and she fought for dominance over one of their kisses with her tongue, refusing to let him win. He may be able to to corner her against a FLAT wall, but she would make him succumb to her power in the kiss. Jen's mind was a blank abyss and her conscious was far from hearing range. The woman barely registered anything of what was going on around her, her heart and soul focused solely on the task and passion at hand. Her arms wrapped around his neck and her leg bent to rest her heel on the wall behind her, her knee supporting her weight against his inner thigh. Nothing could be sweeter than a Jethro kiss; nothing. Her eyes fluttered open, eyes glazed over in pure happiness, cheeks tinted pink, and her chest heaving attempting to regain the air she had just expended in their frantic, passionate kissing. A gasp entered the silent void as he pulled their bodies closer together. The warmth that came off his body could heat Jen for the rest of the life, and as the bliss wore off in the lack of kissing, she began to remember that he was married. She stared into his cerulean eyes, determined to not ruin the moment their were sharing. She bent up and kissed him lightly at the corner of his mouth and pulled back to smile contently at him, waiting for his decision.

L. Jethro Gibbs Oh baby give me one more chance to show you that I love you Won't you please let me Back in your heart Oh darlin' I was blind to let you go
When she rolled her head back he did start kissing her neck. He wanted her and nothing was going to change that not now. His lips met hers again as he picked up her leg that had wrapped around him in one hand and moved it higher up his body. He was easily succumbed to the power of her kiss, that was what started this whole thing, the power behind her kiss. He didn't care that he started the kissing, he could tell she was going to finish it. He let her sighs fill his ears. He backed away from the wall holding onto her he ran his hands down her back to support her as he made his way back to her lips, he gently then pinned her back in the corner of the wall.
She was on his mind constantlyl "I was wrong Jen, I need you" he whispered admitting fault wasn't something he normally did but on occasion it happened. Though he would never apologize for being wrong. He continued to push his body against hers, his hands delving below her waist. His breathing was steady and passionate. His body ached to be close to hers. He made that evident as he didn't let up on his passionate attacks on the woman. His tongue, his eyes, his sighs, his touches; they all said showed her how much he wanted her. Perhaps they couldn't see each other all the time but there was no part of him that wanted to let her go.
It was then his hands rested on her buttons to her blouse, he looked into her eyes, as if asking her permission to continue. He wasn't going to go somewhere she didn't want to if she wasn't comfortable with it, but he didn't want to hold his emotions in check. His eyes were so full of emotion towards her. While he waited for a response he kissed her passionately again but the kiss went to her neck, if anything there was going to be a red mark where he had just been on her neck. He knew though with the placing the right shirt could cover it. It was almost closer to her shoulder. He knew she still had to be professional, even if that they were doing at the moment wasn't.

Anthony DiNozzo So Kiss Me Goodbye. Honey, Im Gonna Make It Out Alive. So Kiss Me Goodbye. I Can See The Venom In Your Eyes. Goodbye. Snakes On A Plane - Cobra Starship. The elevator pinged as Tony returned from the Hospital after interviewing Jeanne Benoit. He strode past the desks towards the staircase. He needed to give Gibbs his information on the case. His team knew he was on edge because of the subject and nature of his first case as Team Leader but he was doing JUST fine. He jogged up the stairs, probably because if he waited for the other elevator then he'd have to think and thinking was usually a bad thing for DiNozzo. Approaching the Director's office, he spotted the two gorillas from FBI and he almost turned on the spot to head back down to the squadroom. Gorillas meant Jenny and if Jenny was here, she knew about the case. Everyone knew Jenny had a vendetta against Jeanne, especially due to whom her father was... well had been! jenny wouldn't take too kindly to Addy, he knew that much. He stopped at the top of the stairs. He wasn't a Field Agent anymore, he was a Team Leader! He wasn't gonna run away from his problems like the old days. This new improved DiNozzo was gonna face them head on. He would bump into Jenny sooner or later. he walked back towards the door, FBI standing right infront of it. Off limits. Tony laughed, flashing his badge casually, he took great pleasure in doing so. Special Agent DiNozzo? I got information on the case for Gibbs. One of the bigger guys laughed Off limits... SPECIAL agent Tony scowled at the FBI simians but a blow against the wall knocked his conscious. Why would there be banging in Gibbs' office? Suddenly a thought crossed his mind: Gibbs... and Jenny? A smirk appeared on his face!
